Dr. Haymon presently offers seminars, workshops, and keynote addresses throughout the United States. Presentations can be adapted to fit time limitations (1-4 hours). One and two day workshops may also be scheduled. Presentations are designed to fit specific or general audiences and may include any combination of the following topics. A. Are Your Elderly Loved Ones Home Alone? Should They Be?

Confront your denial using Dr. Haymon's Red Flag Checklist to determine your loved one's true level of functioning and appropriate level of care. An emergency room is not the place to be addressing these issues:
- Where will your elderly loved ones live when they can no longer safely live alone?
- Who will pay for their care?
- What medical choices do they have?
- What legal documents are needed to ensure their end-of-life choices are carried out?
- How do you handle your emotions-guilt, anger, fear?

B. Caring for Ill or Elderly Loved Ones (Includes everything in Workshop A plus the following)

- Confront your myths and denial about your loved one's ability to safely live alone.
- Decode the "alphabet soup" (acronyms) used by medical and legal professionals.
(ACLF, OSS, SS, SSI, CPR, DNR, DNH, DAT, DPA, PA, IV, GIT, NGT)
- Understand medical choices and advance directives that ensure end-of-life choices are honored.
- Review assistance programs (Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Optional Supplemental Income, Veterans' Benefits, Reverse Mortgages and more).
- Consider various care options and possible living arrangements (home assistance, adult day care, ACLF's, nursing homes, Alzheimer's units, move them to your house or you move to theirs).
- Identify your emotions using Dr. Haymon's Feelings Checklist - and learn how to handle emotional issues common to caregivers now referred to as Caregiver Syndrome. Exchange being overwhelmed for the ability to make clear decisions. Get off the emotional roller coaster. Get rid of guilt-change "should" to "could." Learn how your caregiver role affects your family.
- Understand emotional issues and end-of-life concerns of the elderly as well as how to support and comfort them.
- Address death and grief. Find strength in forgiveness. Say goodbye before and after the death of loved ones. Allow yourself to let go and grieve. Take comfort in loving and being loved.

C. Caring for Elderly Loved Ones While Planning Your Own Retirement (Includes everything in Workshops A & B plus the following).

- Look at retirement concerns.
- Learn ways to ensure your elderly loved ones' nest egg will last as long as they do and your own nest egg will last you to the end.
- Learn how to prepare for retirement (yours and their's) psychologically, mentally, physically and financially.
- Decode the"alphabet soup" of retirement plans (ROTH'S, SEP'S, IRA'S, 401K's, 457K's, MUNI's).
- Learn ways to avoid unnecessary taxes and probate for your parents and yourself.
- Decide what your priorities are for retirement?
- Consider retirement options; Scaling down, Retirement communities, RV retirement, Senior Academy Living (life-long learning opportunities), and many others.
- Learn ways to balance caring for elderly loved ones while planning your own retirement.

D. Healthcare Professionals and the Art of working with Elderly Patients and Their Caregivers

- Learn how to avoid Burnout. Understand the difference between "helping" and "rescuing."
- Learn how to set boundaries between your work and your home life.
- Learn how to set priorities and how to take care of yourself and balance your life.
- Learn how to communicate with caregivers more effectively. Validate without agreeing. Understand what the caregiver is really saying when she's complaining about "Mama's lost socks".
- Learn how to set appropriate boundaries - know when it's really not about you.
- Understand emotional issues common to caregivers and how to best help them.
- Understand emotional issues common to elderly patients and how to best help them.
- Learn how to help elderly patients address end-of -life questions and prepare for death.

E. Work Addiction -The Silent Killer

- Understand the pathology of Work Addiction and possible origins.
- Understand the five basic constructs of Work Addiction: Self-doubt, Intolerance, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsiveness, and Mania.
- Understand the Physical symptoms of Work Addiction: fatigue, headaches, ulcers, chest pain, indigestion, nervous tics, allergies, stomachaches and many more.
- Understand the Emotional characteristics of Work Addiction: fear, depression, anxiety, anger, guilt and the need to control.
- Understand the Behavioral characteristics of Work Addiction - perfectionism, over-committing, over-functioning, irritability,temper outbursts, restlessness, mood swings, insomnia, frenzied/hurried behaviors, difficulty concentrating, a basic sense of worthlessness apart from work and others.
- Understand the fear that "wasting time is the unforgivable sin."
- Understand societal contributions to Work Addiction and how it's rewarded at every level of society. - Understand similarities between workaholism and alcoholism.
